Thursday, the jury for a coroner's inquest found that Billings police Sgt. Bret Becker was justified in the shooting of Shawn Hubbard. In April  2018, the 44 year old Hubbard entered Lucky Lil's Casino armed with a pellet gun. Hubbard said he had hostages and witnesses told the jury that the pellet gun looked like a real handgun. According to testimony, Becker told Hubbard to put his hands up multiple times and to drop the weapon. Becker shot Hubbard when the man said he would shoot. The medical examiner stated Hubbard died from two gunshot wounds to the chest and had methamphetamine and methadone in his system.
