Covered Lift Bridge

This is the Hardon Bridge in Hardon Illinois. It is special because the middle of the bridge raises to let Barge's go through on the Illinois River. I have been crossing this bridge ever since I was about 5 years old to go to my Grandpa's.

This is a picture of the concrete block that is the weight to raise and lower the section of bridge. Right above the block is where the guy sits that gets the job done.

It is still in pretty good shape for as old as it is but I remember the first time I drove across it.... It was kinda scary.
