Kiss unmasked and unplugged for a cover of “Take It Easy” before their arena football team took a season-opening win over the Jacksonville Sharks this past weekend. You can check out their acoustic version of the Eagles classic in the video above.

Before they got started, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley also sang a snippet of “Listen to What the Man Said,” the 1976 No. 1 song by Paul McCartney and Wings – with Simmons (a self-professed huge fan of the Beatles) taking the lead. “We’re old,” Stanley joked. “We kind of forget where we are.” Stanley, meanwhile, called the late “Take It Easy” co-composer Glenn Frey a “brilliant songwriter” after the Eagles co-founder’s sudden death earlier this year.

The L.A. Kiss team, launched in 2013 under Kiss’ ownership, beat Jacksonville 64-39 before a season-opening crowd of 6,805 fans at Los Angeles’ Honda Center on Saturday. They’ll play the Arizona Rattlers at home on April 9 in a game that will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Kiss appeared with their current lineup, which also includes Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. Former guitarist Ace Frehley is preparing to release a solo album featuring a reunion with Stanley. Frehley hasn’t ruled out a return to Kiss either: “I’ve always said that, you know,” he recently noted. “I always leave the door open.”

Stanley joins Frehley for a cover of Free‘s “Fire and Water” on the upcoming album, Origins Vol. 1, which also includes a cover of Thin Lizzy‘s “Emerald” with guitarist Slash. We exclusively premiered the song.
