Taking Continuing Education to the Extreme
Dr. Joe Thomas is a self-described “education junkie,” continually building his knowledge and skill since earning his DDS in 1982. With certifications earned through thousands of hours of advanced classes, tests and hands-on practical exams, he’s one of less than 20% of dentists recognized by the AGD and AACD as expert in both the science and art of dentistry.

Dr. Thomas’ Dentistry Education & Training

• Became a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1994
• Completed Ultimate Anterior Esthetics at the Baylor College of Dentistry in 1995
• Became a clinical instructor at Baylor College in 1995 at the College’s request
• Earned Accredited status from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry 1995
• Became an examiner and mentor for the AACD in 1996
• Giving Back to the Billings Community

While building his professional expertise is Dr. Thomas’ top priority, he also shares that expertise in philanthropy for those who need dental services the most, and helped create Billings’ Breakfast Exchange Children’s Dental Health program to give needed dental treatments to children in underprivileged families.

Dr. Thomas also donates services to the Give Back a Smile program, which gives healthy, beautiful smiles to women with broken and missing teeth from domestic violence. One of his greatest prides is a card that hangs in his office from one woman he helped through the program, who credits him with restoring her self-esteem and confidence in a way that put her on the path to a great job and meeting a wonderful man who became her husband and the father of her child.

Personal & Professional Information
Dr. Thomas grew up in Butte, MT, attended Butte Central High School, Gonzaga University and the University of Washington and began private dental practice in 1982. In addition to the certifications listed above, he is a member of the Ninth District Dental Society, the Montana Dental Association and the American Dental Association.

In his free time (there isn’t much!), he loves fishing and hunting the streams and wilderness of Montana, playing basketball and working out at his Billings health club — activities that help him stay healthy, relaxed and sharp for his practice!
