Metallica have unveiled their contribution to the upcoming Ronnie James Dio tribute album 'This is Your Life' -- and it's a stunning, nine-minute long medley featuring four songs from the singer's time in Rainbow.

Entitled 'Ronnie Rising Medley,' the track features three songs from Rainbow's 1976 album 'Rising' ('A Light in the Black,' 'Stargazer' and 'Tarot Woman') as well as 'Kill the King' from the same year's 'Long Live Rock 'n' Roll.' Metallica issued a similar four-song medley tribute to Mercyful Fate back in 1998 for their 'Garage, Inc.' album.

Drummer Lars Ulrich tells Rolling Stone it was easy for the group to put this track together because of how important Dio's music was to them. "It's something that we were all reared on. I don't recall sitting there in a band meeting or anything deciding what to play. Somebody starts playing 'Stargazer' – which is sort of just like something that's in our arsenal to jam – and then that whole period there, 'Tarot Woman,' 'Kill the King,' 'A Light in the Black ' – that's just really effortless to jump into."

'This Is Your Life,' which arrives on April 1, also features Dio, Black Sabbath and Rainbow-era Ronnie James Dio tracks performed by Motorhead, Anthrax, Judas Priest's Rob Halford and more.
