A 76-year-old Florida man has been injured in a snowmobile accident in southwest Montana.

The West Yellowstone Police Department says it received a call about 10 a.m. Wednesday from a group of snowmobilers reporting that one member of their group had crashed about 6 miles (9.6 kilometers) west of West Yellowstone.

It says the injured snowmobiler, whose name was not released, sustained head and neck injuries when he lost control of the snowmobile, striking several trees and winding up with his head pinned under the snowmobile.

Rescuers located the injured snowmobiler and took him in a specialized sled to a waiting ambulance. He was then transported to the Big Sky Medical Center.
