'Sons of Anarchy's' Kurt Sutter has a rich history of casting stars from such series as 'Deadwood' and his old stomping grounds 'The Shield,' as today he added another big name to the list. Former 'Shield' star CCH Pounder will appear in the upcoming sixth season with an important new role to the boys of SAMCRO, but as whom? Find out what brings 'The Shield' to 'Sons of Anarchy' inside!

'The Shield' will be coming to FX's 'Sons of Anarchy' this fall, but not the one that first jumps to mind. Via Entertainment Weekly, we've learned that CCH Pounder will make a quick stop in Charming this fall, beginning with the second episode of 'Sons of Anarchy' season 6 and continuing over a multi-episode arc.

According to the report, Pounder will take the role of Tyne Patterson, a San Joaquin County District Attorney who "runs head first into the area’s violent biker ways." Pounder makes for the latest 'Shield' alum to appear on Sutter's FX biker drama, joining 'Justified's' Walton Goggins, Jay Karnes, Benito Martinez, David Rees Snell and Kenny Johnson.

Pounder adds to a guest roster that includes former 'Deadwood' star Kim Dickens, while both Drea de Matteo’s Wendy and Donal Logue’s villainous Lee Toric will return, and Jimmy Smits (Nero Padilla) was upgraded to series regular for the coming year. Still unconfirmed is the involvement of Billy Brown’s character August Marks, whom Sutter cautioned might not be available for the sixth season. Last year, Sutter told reporters the next batch of episodes would likely open a few weeks ahead in the story, the weight of the season 5 finale’s events still fresh.

Well, what say you? Are you excited to have another Sutter favorite join 'Sons of Anarchy' for season 6? What struggles would you want to see SAMCRO endure this fall?
