Those hoping to hear Sting perform songs from his upcoming album 'The Last Ship' onstage will have to be pretty lucky. The singer has announced that the only concerts he'll perform in support of the album will be a series of 10 dates at New York City's tiny Public Theater, which will double as a benefit for the venue.

From Sept. 25 (the day after the album's release) through Oct. 9, Sting will present special shows at the 260-seat theater, where he will perform the new songs, as well as discuss the creative process behind them and the musical for which they were written. 'The Last Ship,' which is set to premiere in 2014, centers on the decline of the shipbuilding industry in the 1980s in Sting's hometown of Newcastle, England.

"The Public Theater, a New York institution committed to supporting all of the city's distinct communities, was a natural fit to perform this material that is, at its core, about the importance of community," Sting said in a statement.

Tickets for the shows, which range from $250 to $2,500, will go on sale July 14 at 10:01 PM. Sting will also perform a birthday concert on Oct. 2, for which 100 members of his fan club will receive free tickets via lottery. There's more information, including pre-sale and VIP packages, at Sting's website.
