The Who

The grandparents aren't alright. Throughout his career, Pete Townshend's famously profane mouth has often caused his admirers to smile, shake their heads and say, "That's just Pete being Pete." But now, it seems to have gotten him in trouble with a fan and his daughter.

The Who will close out their U.S. tour on Feb. 28 with a special intimate concert at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Dubbed "Who Cares," the show will benefit their Teen Cancer America charity and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Elvis Costello and the Imposters will serve as the opening act for the evening.

Pete Townshend announced that he was leaving the Who on Dec. 16, 1983.

Original manager of the Who, Kit Lambert is headed to the big screen in a newly conceived biopic. Lambert, along with the recently deceased Chris Stamp, guided the Who through their formative years up through the early 1970s and now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, a film on Lambert's life is being planned with assistance from both Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend.

It's a good thing neither Pete Townshend nor Roger Daltrey died before they got old, or else they would not have been able to rock Madison Square Garden tonight (Dec. 12). The Who put on a master class while rocking for a good cause, raising money for the Robin Hood Relief Fund to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Chris Stamp, who co-managed the Who during their rise to rock stardom and released the Jimi Hendrix Experience's first single and album via his Track Records label, has died of cancer at age 70.

Classic rock lovers tuning into Game 1 of the World Series last night (Oct. 24) were greeted with a surprise. The legendary music of the Who was used throughout the telecast, which will continue throughout the tournament, contested this year between the San Francisco Giants and the Detroit Tigers.

The end of the Who's 1976 tour, at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens on Oct. 21, 1976, marked the last concert for their drummer, Keith Moon.

The price of sarcasm is high in one teacher’s classroom. The prof. (and obvious Ultimate Classic Rocker) was ticked that her student left an answer blank, but even more upset that he went on to quote the Who’s ‘Behind Blue Eyes,’ attributing the song to Fred Dust of Limp Bizkit.

The Who will embark on a 37-date North American tour entitled ‘Quadrophenia and More’ this fall. Surviving members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will perform the 1973 album in its entirety, along with other popular songs from their catalog.

Roger Daltrey continues to do what he can to make sure the kids are all right. On March 28, Daltrey performed Who and solo material as the headliner for a Teenage Cancer Trust benefit show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. And he wasn’t alone: The concert’s impressive list of guest musicians included Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood, as well as Steve Winwood and Paul Weller.
