A 13-year-old Billings boy was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries Thursday morning after he was struck while crossing Broadwater Avenue, according to Lt. Casey Hafner.

Billings police were called 7:34 a.m. to the accident at 12th Street West and Broadwater Avenue. The teenage pedestrian was crossing Broadwater at 12th Street West and headed north when he was struck by a red, 2001 Dodge Intrepid, which was traveling east on Broadwater on the inside lane.

The Intrepid was being driven by a 45-year-old Billings woman who was accompanied by a 13-year-old girl in the passenger seat.

The driver told police the sun was in her eyes, had her sun visor down and did not see the young boy attempting to cross the street, according to Hafner.

Broadwater Avenue between 11th Street West and 13th Street West will be closed for several hours while investigators work the scene.
