Alice Cooper Gets Animated for Disney TV Show
Alice Cooper has always had an animated persona, but now the shock rocker is literally getting animated for an upcoming children’s show.
The legendary singer is lending his voice to the Disney Channel animated series Mickey and the Roadster Racers. In his guest-starring role, Cooper will play Alistair Coop De Ville, “an old friend of Goofy’s uncle.” Naturally, the animated character shares a couple of fashion traits with his celebrity voice.
“It’s so funny that they have a snake coming out of my top hat — the two things that Alice is known for,” Cooper acknowledged in a conversation with Entertainment Weekly. The rocker, who described himself as a “huge Goofy fan,” added that he was excited to play a “nonthreatening character.” “Generally when I play parts in movies or TV, I’m always the villain," he noted. "It’s kind of nice to not be the villain for once.”
In his episode, titled “Goof Quest,” Alistair joins Goofy, Uncle Goof and Donald Duck in a journey to find lost treasure in the jungles of Peru. The episode airs on July 5 at 8AM ET on the Disney Channel. You can watch a clip featuring Cooper’s character in the video below.
This foray into the world of Disney is just the latest event in Cooper’s very busy schedule. The rocker’s Ol' Black Eyes Is Back tour will take him across North America for performances alongside Halestorm.
Cooper’s side project the Hollywood Vampires just released their latest album, Rise. There’s also an as-yet-untitled EP, a collection of Detroit-influenced songs that Cooper promises will be released in 2019.
