Billings City Council says ‘No’ to Body Cameras for Law Enforcement [Opinion]

The Billings City Council has decided not to move forward with the purchase of body cameras for law enforcement.

This is a huge mistake.

The cameras cost $100,000 and the video storage would cost $200,000 per year. How much would a lawsuit cost us? Even if we won, it would still cost to adjudicate it.

These people had no problem spending $500,000 for a new water fountain at South Park Pool, but won't give the police the tools to cover their ass when a loser wants to file some frivolous charge.

Maybe we can get a new bike tunnel now. That would be good ....
