My wife and I have struggled for years about having anyone that is not family or a very close friend watch our kids. Call us crazy, but we have a hard time trusting that our kids are in good hands if we are not personally connected to the babysitter.

With reports of the man getting arrested yesterday and accused of molesting children at his mother’s day care in Billings, this only confirms my wife's and my decision even more. The four children he is accused of sexually assaulting are ages 2 to 13 years old. Roughly the ages of my kids.

Abuse is something I will not tolerate when it comes to my children. I would sooner find myself in prison than allow someone to abuse one of my kids in any way.

Granted, there is innocent until proven guilty but I am not one to take that chance. I guess you could say that my wife and I are overprotective parents, but at least my wife and I know that our kids are good hands when one of us has them.

It’s really sad that a few bad apples have to ruin the entire orchard. I am sure there are plenty of good daycare facilities in Billings. I would never discredit them. However, if given the choice, I say there’s something about a parent raising their own kids. Too bad it’s so hard to make ends meet these days so more parents could do that.

Do you trust day care?
