He won an Oscar for writing the 1996 movie Sling Blade (also nominated for Best Actor for his role in the same movie) and he and his ex-wife made tabloid headlines for wearing necklaces with vials containing each other's blood. You may not know, but Billy Bob Thornton is also an accomplished musician. He and his band, The Boxmasters, are coming to Billings on May 17th at The Pub Station Ballroom.

A sound influenced by British '60s, rock-a-billy, country, and Americana.

When asked to describe their sound in a 2008 interview, Thornton told the Northern Express,

We are electric hillbilly music. We draw inspiration from Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, The Animals, The Stones and The Kinks.

According to the Pub Station press release, Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters took advantage of COVID downtime to record three new albums. They include “Nothing Personal” which is yet to be released, “Christmas In California” which was released in November of 2021 and “Help...I’m Alive” which is to be released on April 15th on Keentone Records/ Thirty Tigers.

Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters have opened for big names like ZZ Top, Steve Miller, George Thorogood, and Kid Rock, and they continue to draw new fans around the country.
