CBS Gives Full Seasons to ‘The Crazy Ones,’ ‘Mom’ and ‘The Millers’
After suffering a humiliating defeat with freshman comedy 'We Are Men,' CBS has taken a big leap forward with its other fall 2013 efforts. The network has given full-season orders to the Robin Williams- and Sarah Michelle Gellar-starring 'The Crazy Ones,' as well as Anna Faris-Chuck Lorre comedy 'Mom,' and the oft-maligned Will Arnett vehicle 'The Millers,' each of which rank as the most-watched new comedies of the season.
"We’re proud of CBS’s leadership position in comedy and excited to build on it with the back nine pick-ups of these three new comedies," said CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler in a statement announcing the pickups. "These series are creatively distinct, continue to improve each week and are led by strong showrunners, writing and production staffs, and feature amazingly talented casts."
Reviews have been mixed to positive for both 'The Crazy Ones' and 'Mom,' averaging around 14 million viewers for the former, and 8 million for the latter. 'The Millers' received strongly negative press toward the beginning with its juvenile humor among distinguished stars Will Arnett, Margo Martindale and Beau Bridges, but the Greg Garcia-produced sitcom still averages around 12.4 million viewers.
CBS also nets the distinction of giving out fall 2013's first comedy pickups while FOX and ABC have only issued additional script orders to their successful comedies.
