Extreme Guitarist Nuno Bettencourt Hack Leads to Release of Nude Photos
A hacker broke into Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt's personal accounts today and posted private photos – including nude selfies – to Bettencourt's Instagram.
Bettencourt took the incident even more personally because he thinks of himself as such a private individual, in particular when it comes to his family.
"I want to apologize to all of you, my friends, my family, but especially my kids," he said on Facebook. "I am sorry to those offended by the photos, but I'm more disappointed in the photos of my children being posted. From day one I've kept my kids lives private. And I'm sad that that was violated."
Bettencourt said he didn't find out about the hack until someone shook him awake this morning. "I got woken up from a dead sleep with my door being banged on in my hotel room," he said. "I knew it could only be bad news, but once I was told what was happening, I couldn't comprehend it: Basically, my accounts were compromised."
Extreme are at work on a long-awaited follow up to 2008's Saudades de Rock. Bettencourt has previously said the band recorded around 17 songs for the record. The project could be released as early as February. Last year, marked the 25th anniversary of the band's breakout record Pornograffitti; Extreme are celebrating with a new song-for-song concert recording of the album, which is due on Oct. 14.
