FX Taps Zach Galifianakis for New Louis C.K. Sitcom, Michael Cera Joins Charlie Kaufman Comedy
FX remains among the critical favorites for its high-profile talent and strong approach to original storytelling, but the latest pilot news to come out of the TCA press tour has even the most stalwart viewers excited. 'The Hangover' vet Zach Galifianakis will star in a new FX sitcom executive produced by Louis C.K., while John Hawkes and 'Arrested Development''s Michael Cera will star in the new Charlie Kaufman pilot 'How & Why.'
Details of Galifianakis' new series remain under wraps, though we know the comedian will both star, write and co-executive produce with Louis C.K., along with Blair Breard, Dave Becky and Andrea Pett-Joseph and Marc Gurvitz. 'Louie' itself, meanwhile, has been announced to return in May, following its year-long hiatus.
Elsewhere, Cera and Hawkes have joined the pilot cast of 'How & Why,' an intriguing-sounding new pilot that tells the story of a man who can explain how and why a nuclear reactor works but is otherwise clueless about life. Hawkes will portray Goodman Hesselman, host of the titular TV series at the center of the comedy, who loses his passion for the show and is replaced by a younger host, before relocating to a different town to start a similar show. Cera will portray Mendelson, Goodman's new boss at the studio.
We'll bring you the latest details as they arrive, but in the meantime, what do you think? Are you interested to have either Zach Galifianakis or Michael Cera return to TV?
