I can't believe it's been 18 years since 9/11. It's crazy to think that every kid currently in high school wasn't even born yet when the worst attack on US soil in history happened. I know I'll never forget where I was and what I was doing when the Twin Towers came down on that day.

One way to remember 9/11 is to check out the 2nd annual Healing Field. Located in Laurel again this year (with a new location) the display runs 9/11 - 9/14 at South School at 606 S. 5th St W. It's the school you can see from the interstate, kind of by Laurel Pond.

If you missed the Healing Field display last year, it's really worth checking out. 1,000 six foot American flags are laid out on a perfect grid.  It is a humbling experience and a unique way reflect on not only 9/11, but the sacrifices our military and first responders make every day for our great country.

There is no cost to experience the Healing Field and it can be especially dramatic when viewed in the evening, when the flags are illuminated. Proceeds benefit: Laurel Home Town Troops, Laurel Exchange Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Laurel. Additional information HERE.
