High Temps Will Drop Nearly 40 Degrees in Billings on Saturday 8/5
I'm sure we're not the only state with residents who like to say, "If you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes and it'll change", but you've got to admit that weather in the Treasure State can certainly be fickle. A great example is expected to happen this weekend when the daytime high will be significantly cooler than what we've been experiencing all week.
Almost 40 degrees cooler on Saturday.
The temp on my car display read 107 when I climbed in Thursday afternoon, and now we're predicted to have a daytime high of just 66 on Saturday (8/5). In addition to much cooler temperatures, we're probably going to get quite a bit of rain too. The National Weather Service in Billings issued this graphic today on Twitter. It looks like locations east of Billings will receive the most precipitation. Up to an inch of rain could fall in places like Miles City, Baker, Lame Deer, and Broadus. Areas along the Montana/Wyoming border could also get significant rain.
Find your rain gear if you're heading to Sturgis.
Most of us in the Billings area will probably welcome a respite from the heat and we always need the rain this time of year. Bikers headed to Sturgis this weekend should dress for a wet ride and monitor the forecast. Getting caught in a shower on a motorcycle is never very fun. But riding for 4.5 hours in the pouring rain really sucks. The latest NWS forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain on Saturday and a 50% chance of rain Saturday night. Saturday will have a very Fall-like feeling, but don't worry... we'll be back in the mid-90s by Monday.
