A year or so ago I was talked into dragging my fat ass off the couch and to the YMCA. It was a horrible experience save one thing. Two of the instructors were so fun and personable that it gave me a reason to go the second day. In effect these two people may have saved my life. It wasn't long before they  introduced me to a sweet little girl named Aaliyah. And then they told me her story:

Aaliyah

Aaliyah is a 9 year old Billings girl born with a rare malformation in her brain called Vein of Galen Malformation that causes daily seizures. Since birth, she has had numerous surgeries to help alleviate the symptoms of her condition, which has only worsened. Later this year, Aaliyah and her family will travel to the Children's Hospital Colorado where she will undergo a series of week-long tests to determine if she is a candidate for brain surgery that could eradicate her seizures.

This Saturday, November 12 from 6-8 pm there will be a Family Boot Camp at the Billings Family YMCA. I know what you're thinking: Bootcamp? Just get your fat ass off the couch and go! You never know, you might meet some great people and it could change your life as well as the life of a beautiful little girl.

All funds raised go directly to Aaliyah's medical and travel expenses. Donations can be dropped off at any First Interstate Bank location or mailed to: FIB, 401 N. 31st St. Billings, MT 59101.
