My brother Steve lives in Denver, plays drums in a band called "The Oliver Miles Trio" and smokes more pot than anyone I know.  Like a lot of drummers, Steve claims to suffer from stiffness and pain in his hands and shoulder.  So, several years ago, he applied for and received a medical marijuana license in the State of Colorado.

Aerosmith is one of Steve's favorite bands and he sees them whenever they are on tour. This past Wednesday, he paid $100 for a ticket to see Aerosmith and Slash play at the Pepsi Center in Denver.  Before the concert even started, an usher spotted him toking up and kicked him out of the concert.  He had barely made it inside the venue before he was escorted out.

Steve was pissed.  He claims that this is a classic case of the man trying to keep him down and he has vowed to never attend another event at the venue again.  But really, he should have been more careful.  Sure, weed is legal in Denver now.  But you can't just toke up in broad daylight and not expect to be hassled.  Especially at an indoor arena.

In his defense, it was a rock concert.  And there were probably a few thousand potheads toking up at that show.  But still, you have to wait until the lights go down.  Once the music starts, you're good.  But wait until after the band takes the stage to light up the phatty.

It could have been worse for Steve.  He could have been like my old buddy Mike Watson, who got thrown in the drunk tank before the first song of an Eagles concert several years ago.
