The field of Republican presidential candidates is getting more crowded by the day. Even Donald Trump threw his name in the ring this week. Which begs the question, if classic rocker turned conservative commentator Ted Nugent ran for office, how would he fare against the other contenders?

Considering the seasoned politicians who have entered the race so far, it's highly unlikely that 'Uncle Ted' could get more votes than Rand Paul, Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker or Ted Cruz.

However, there's a decent chance he could win the GOP primary in his home state of Michigan. And he might even mount a competitive race in his adopted home state of Texas.

According to a recent poll from Real Clear Politics, Bush is the current front runner, followed closely by Walker and Rubio. However, at the moment, the race is shaping up to be a close one. The poll indicates that nearly 4% of Republicans plan to vote for Donald Trump in the primaries.

While the chances of Nugent winning the nomination would be slim, I'd be willing to bet he'd get more votes than Trump will.
