Over the last several weeks, we have had a couple of new restaurants opening here in the Mining City. The Taco Bell Cantina was able to open its doors in uptown Butte before 2022 came to a close, and BW Blacksmith Coffee & Grill on Harrison Avenue, has opened to fantastic revues.

And it appears that we are not done yet.

We have all seen the construction, south on Harrison Avenue, I think most of us assumed it was going to be the site of the carwash (I knew I did). But word quickly spread that it would be a ‘burger joint’, and not long after we found out that it in fact would be a Highway 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries.

Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries was founded in Goldsboro, North Carolina in 1991. Founder Kenny Moore opened the doors to the ‘OG’ shop with a commitment to hospitality and fresh food. The franchise is billed as a retro-themed diner that features fresh, never-frozen, hand-pattied burgers, and other classic favorites served in an open-kitchen setting. The other item that jumps off the page for me is “house-made frozen custard” yes, please. The Butte location will have a full-service dining room, outdoor seating, a drive-thru, and take-out options.

The Butte location has a Facebook page that you can follow for updates on the construction, a look at the menu, and an opening day. (When that day is set).

Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries has 121 current locations across the country, (mainly in the Southeastern US), the Butte location will be their second in the West, and in Montana, with an active location in Helena.
