
BREAKING: University of Montana President Seth Bodnar Steps Down After Eight Years
University of Montana President Seth Bodnar announced he is resigning from his position. UM News released the story.
"University of Montana President Seth Bodnar today announced he will step down after eight years leading the state's flagship institution," said the UM News Service.
This comes exactly a week after the Montana Free Press reported that Bodnar was planning a Montana Senate run as an independent candidate.
"I write today with a deep sense of gratitude to share that I am stepping down from my role as president of the University of Montana. I love this university and am inspired by our work here," Bodnar said in a statement.

Bodnar was the 20th president at the University of Montana after taking over for Sheila Stearns in 2018. Bodnar is originally from Franklin, Pennsylvania, and graduated from West Point before serving in the 101st Airborne Division and as a Green Beret.
Bodnar served as a senior executive at General Electric in its transportation division before taking the UM position.
