Montana Faces Warmest Winter In State History
Here we are in February, which is typically one of the coldest months of the year, and we're setting records across Big Sky Country.
I'm not going to pretend that I know the ins and outs of the weather world with all of the high pressure this and low pressure that, I just know that I'm regretting putting my motorcycle up for the season.

For those of you who are curious, we are in the middle of one of the warmest winters in Montana history.
After I did a little research, it seems that our "warm stretch" that we are experiencing is rather rare here in Montana. No, this isn't the first warm winter we've had, but the truth is, we don't have a lot of them. I even came across something saying the last time we had a winter this warm was back in the late 1800s.
Montana weather records
While parts of the states have seen temps up into the 60s, it's not totally unheard of. In fact, the warmest February day on record happened all the way back in 1932 when the town of Columbus has a high of 79 degrees. There were also warm days back in the winters of 1992 and 1995. However, there is one glaring difference between those Februarys and this one.
Most of the warm days of those warm winters came at the end of the month, not the beginning like this year, so based on that, the early part of this month has been the warmest on record for Montana.

Do the warm days of this Montana winter worry you? Are you someone that depends on the snowfall? What will the lack of snow mean for the Montana summer? Share your thoughts be sending us a message on our app.
