If you're a property owner in Montana, you most likely have been mailed information about the property tax rebate from the Montana Department of Revenue. In June, taxpayers who owned residential property during Tax Year 2022 received a postcard about the rebate.

Dear Montana Taxpayer,

Governor Greg Gianforte recently signed into law a property tax rebate, providing eligible homeowners with up to $675 this year. You can begin the process of requesting your property tax rebate on August 15, 2023. We will send you more information in the coming weeks.

The new law will provide Montana homeowners with up to $1,350 in property tax rebates over the next two years. Each rebate is $675 or an amount that doesn't exceed the property taxes on a principal Montana residence for each year.
