Bored Kids? Summer Family Fun Nights are Back at ZooMontana
My kids have now been out of school for about three weeks. So far, we haven't heard the annoying phrase, "I'm so bored" come from their sassy little mouths. Parents always cringe when kids complain about boredom because let's be honest... most adults can only dream of having a day when they're bored.
We seem to stay pretty busy during the summer months, enjoying the downtime and looking forward to putting up the pool, whenever it finally gets hot around here. One of these days though, my crew will start to get listless... and when their phones, iPad, and computer batteries are dead, we'll want to head to the Zoo.
Family Fun Nights are Back!
ZooMontana hosts a series of three Family Fun Nights throughout the summer months; the first one is on Wednesday, June 14th. It's from 4 - 8 pm (last admission at 7 pm) and admission is just $8 for all. Ages 2 and under and Zoo Members are FREE.
The zoo normally closes at 4 pm during the summer, so Family Fun Nights present an excellent opportunity to visit when temps are traditionally a little bit cooler vs. the heat of a scorching summer day. Many of the animals are more active in the evening, providing better glimpses of the wildlife. There will be lawn games, face painting, food trucks, pop-up shops, and other fun. Find out more HERE.
Lots of new stuff at the Zoo.
The $1.1 million Foster Waterfowl Refuge is now complete. The impressive upgrade renovates a formerly underutilized (and honestly kind of yucky) area in the heart of ZooMontana's grounds. There are many new animals at the Zoo too, including the new adolescent wolverines. And
This week, ZooMontana announced the addition of new sensory guides throughout the grounds, an effort to bolster their commitment to autism accessibility at the Zoo. In a Facebook post, they wrote,
Each guide sign highlights a rating system that alerts guests as to what to expect in terms of the five senses; sight, sound, taste, touch and smell. We have also launched new sensory bags for check out. The bags contain fidgets, ear protection and sunglasses to help guests deal with sensory issues should they need it. Sponsored by the Boothill Inn & Suites, the bags are free for use during a guest's visit, but must be returned.
Catch a concert at the Zoo this summer.
In a partnership with Pub Station Presents, live music will fill the Zoo grounds this summer with some great headliners, including Chase Rice (7/21), Michael Franti and Spearhead (8/1), Jimmie Allen (8/20), and Milky Chance (8/28).
