CNN, Crow Nation News, Highlights Drug Cartel Targeting on Res

The Chairman of the Crow Tribe had a LOT to say on Capitol Hill. He thanked Congress for backing the Crow Revenue Act, he talked about the need for more BIA officers on the reservation, he talked about how Mexican drug cartels are targeting Native Americans, and how the northern border is being exploited by criminal elements.

Chairman Whiteclay: "The Crow Reservation, like many other of the tribal lands, has become an unwitting corridor for transnational cartels. Thank you for your attention to the matter, and the administration's attention to this matter.We are here seeking partnership to secure our people and uphold our sovereignty. Apsaaloke people have been inhabited the Yellowstone River Valley and South Central Montana. Our reservation was established by treaty in 1851. Today the current reservation spans approximately 2.4 million acres, a little bit bigger than Connecticut."

If you back up the tape on the video of the hearing you'll also see that Montana's own Stacy Zinn testified as well. She was the head of the DEA here in Montana who took the fight to the cartels, and continues to fight for the people of Montana.

The chairman also talked about the Crow Reservation being ground zero for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) epidemic.
