Jackson Browne Maps Out Summer 2012 Solo Acoustic Tour
Since about 2005, Jackson Browne has been no stranger to the solo acoustic format, not only hitting the road for guitar/piano shows but also releasing two stripped-down concert collections of fresh and familiar material.
This summer, Browne will launch his latest solo acoustic tour, and the 20-date trek is scheduled to begin July 14 in Charlotte, N.C. and wind up Aug. 15 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
Sara Watkins, best known for playing violin in the bluegrass band Nickel Creek, will open for Browne. What’s especially notable about this Browne tour is it includes a July 29 gig in Newport, Rhode Island — his first time performing at the Newport Folk Festival.
Meanwhile, fans who want to hear some acoustic Browne right now can satisfy their craving by checking out the recently released benefit album ‘Best of Kokua Festival.’ The star-studded collection features Browne performing an unplugged version of ‘Take It Easy’ with singer/songwriter and festival host Jack Johnson, who sits on the board of the Kokua Hawaii Foundation.
