After COVIDs two-year stranglehold on the entertainment industry, musicians and bands are chomping at the bit to get back on the road. Tour announcements have been popping into my inbox the last few weeks on a regular basis, and this week Magic City Blues announced the 2022 lineup. It's good.

Headliners are Lynyrd Skynyrd and Whiskey Myers.

The "Party of the Summer" features thirteen acts, spread over two days on three different stages. Everybody knows Lynyrd Skynrd. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and they're #65 on the 100 Best Selling Albums list. Whiskey Myers are no slouches either. The Texas-based, Southern Rock/Country band has released 5 studio albums since their debut in 2008 and they've been blowing up ever since. If you watch the TV show Yellowstone, you saw them playing in a bar on the show in 2018. That appearance "propelled the band’s entire catalog into the Top 10 of the iTunes country chart."

After 20 years on Montana Ave, Magic City Blues Fest is moving for 2022.

Some fans may grumble about the change of venue this year. I'll agree that it was pretty awesome taking in the festival on historic Montana Avenue. However, there are certainly some advantages to the festival moving to MetraPark this year.  With two outdoor stages near the pond on the south side of the Pavillion (and one stage indoors), the setting should be pretty awesome. Plus, parking will be much easier.
