The Gazette reports that federal, state and local law enforcement agencies will be stepping up arrests and prosecutions of violent crime, illegal firearms possession and methamphetamine-related drug crimes in Billings, according to U.S. Attorney for the State of Montana Kurt Alme.

He told a crowd of police officials and media representatives at a press conference Monday about the recent arrests of 17 people in connection with a [quote] “reinvigorated” [end quote] Project Safe Neighborhoods, the 2001 federal initiative to combat gun violence.
