My Advice: Hand Deliver Your Absentee Ballot
If you haven't turned in your absentee ballot yet, here's what I would do: hand deliver, don't risk it.
Montana Public Radio basically said the same thing in their reporting:
Lewis and Clark County Elections Supervisor Audrey McCue says the United States Postal Service recommends ballots be sent in at least a week before election day.
Earlier this week, Yellowstone County Elections Administrator sent out the following elections update:
1 We have received back 45,000(62%) of the absentee ballots. There are 24,708 still out there, 271 rejected(no signatures, etc.), and 2,376 returned as undeliverable.
Absentee voting closes at 12:00 noon on November 5.
If voters are mailing their absentee ballot back, we encourage people to do so by no later than Thursday (11/1) as ballots must be received by our office by no later than 8:00 PM on Election Day. POST MARKS DO NOT EXTEND THIS DEADLINE.
Ballots can be dropped off at the Election Office up until the deadline.
Ballots can be dropped off at any polling place in the county on Election Day as long as they are in a signed return envelope.
People that are not registered to vote may late register in person at the Yellowstone County Courthouse this week from 8-5. Late registration ends at the courthouse at 12:00 noon on November 5.
The Yellowstone County Election Office moves to the Montana Pavilion at Metra Park on Election Day from 7AM-8PM. This is the only location for voters to late register on Election Day.
