What is the Omnipod 5?
The new device is the first tubeless automated insulin delivery pump that has an integrated continuous glucose monitor - Dexcom.
Is it FDA Approved?
How does the Omnipod 5 work?
Omnipod 5 has an algorithm built into the pod that automates insulin delivery and predicts glucose 60 minutes ahead to either increase, decrease, or pause insulin. This system can be controlled via an app on an Insulet-provided controller or compatible personal smartphone.
How can I or my loved one get access to one?
The new insulin delivery device called “Omnipod 5” has been a game changer for diabetes, especially in children. These devices replace the syringe and needle and allow the patient to get the insulin they need without the hassle. These devices increase patient compliance and disease management to help prevent other complications and hospitalizations.
