Queen Tops List of Best “Sports Anthems” in Rock History
Just in time for this weekend's Super Bowl, the website 411mania.com released a list ranking the greatest sports anthems of all time. Queen's classic "We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions" topped their list, followed by Gary Glitter's "Rock n Roll Pt. 2" and Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger".
Several other legendary rock bands also made the list, including Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train", which was ranked #6, and AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" in 7th.
While it's harder to argue with their picks, many legendary hard rock sports anthems were conspicuously absent from this list, including: Metallica's "Enter Sandman", Journey's "Don't Stop Believin", Van Halen's "Jump", "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones, The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" and Guns n Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle", just to name a few.
Which begs the question: What's do you think is the greatest rock n roll sports anthem of all time?
