Fresh from their own induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to issue a rock and roll tribute of sorts. The crazed funksters are releasing ‘We Salute You,’ an EP of cover versions of songs by artists that influenced them.

The digital-only effort will be released on May 1 through the band’s website. The, um, digital file, will feature the Peppers’ take on classics by the Ramones, the Stooges, Neil Young, the Beach Boys, David Bowie, and finally, Dion and the Belmonts. All of whom are also Rock Hall inductees, by the way. All but one of the tracks has been available at one time or another as a b-side or compilation track.

The track listing is: ‘A Teenager in Love’ (by Dion and the Belmonts), ‘Havana Affair’ (Ramones), ‘Search & Destroy’ (Iggy and the Stooges), ‘Everybody Knows This is Nowhere’ (Neil Young), ‘I Get Around’ (The Beach Boys) and ‘Suffragette City’ (David Bowie). Of these tracks, only the Neil Young song is previously unissued.
