I was going to talk about the possible flooding early next week. (Possible 16.4 feet on the Yellowstone by Tuesday or Wednesday).  I could have talked about actor Morgan Freeman apologizing to anyone who may have felt "uncomfortable or disrespected" by his behavior.  I could have also talked about Tommy Chong's reflection on the evolution of pot.  I decided to talk about Babe Ruth.  It was on this date in 1935 Babe Ruth hit his last three career home runs...712, 713 and 714 for the Boston Braves in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  By the way the Pirates won the game 11-7.  Babe Ruth a free agent newcomer to the National League, acquired at a high-mileage age 40 by Boston’s owner when the Yankees cast the legend adrift on February 26. He’d departed Boston 15 years earlier, when Red Sox owner sold him to the Yankees. It’s sometimes reported that this memorable game was the Babe’s last. It truly was his “last hurrah,” but he went on to play in five more games, without a hit in 13 plate appearances. My passion for baseball runs deep and Memorial day is the "official" kick off to summer.  Get out and watch the boys and girls of summer in the following weeks.
