The Loft Is No More In Billings. Here’s What I’ll Miss.

Yesterday at 5:08 PM, the owners of The Loft Dance Club at 1123 1st Avenue North here in Billings announced the closure of the Dance Club portion of The Loft going forward.

What is The Loft?

If you are new to the Billings area, or just simply have not heard of it, The Loft Dance Club has been a venue in the Billings area for the last 26 years, hosting DJs, live entertainment such as drag shows and Projectile Comedy, and so much more.

Known as the "Best Dance Club in Billings", The Loft has been the home of Projectile Comedy, Laugh Out Loud Comedy, and other frequent performances for years, and up until 2022, the local home of the Fish Stix shows.

Why the closure?

According to the post, the owners have simply listed the bar for sale, and are getting out of the business.

The Loft Dance Floor is no longer open, however, they will continue hosting monthly parties for Gratitude Entertainments Ritual RDM Show, Brick Hause Drag Shows & Productions, and other parties.

They are open to hosting parties and events, however, the club side will only be for parties and events going forward.

Wild Willys Casino will still be open 7 days a week, and The Loft encourages you to keep an eye on their social media for events, parties, and specials in the future.

Memories Gone By

Normally in an article, I don't really have many memories of a place to share... but for the Loft, I have a few. The last big event I attended at The Loft was the 2017 Big Sky Pride events, long before I had moved TO Billings, and lived in Baker, Montana at the time.

Which, if you are catching my drift, I drove all the way from Baker to Billings back then for Big Sky Pride, and it was a random and fun night!

So, before we go, here's a bunch of my memories from The Loft & The Fish Stix. Maybe we'll have more fun times like this in the future.

If I shared ALL my photos, you'd see this "kissy face" thing I did more often. Don't ask 31-year-old me why I did it.

My friend Britt, who I rarely see these days here in Billings, also enjoyed the night. I have a video of us singing "Let's Marvin Gaye And Get It On" by Charlie Puth, just minutes after this was taken. I'll save your ears.

We went on the 15th for their Glow Paint & Drag Show night at The Loft. What a blast it was.

The club was PACKED this night for the show, which, of course it would be during Big Sky Pride.

One of the most unique features of The Loft, the actual... Loft... part. It wasn't just a name!

The best photo from the whole night, was when one of the performers came out and did "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) by Katy Perry. What a hilarious show!
