National Geographic Plans to Transmit Tweets into Space
As a way to promote its show ‘Chasing UFOs’ and potentially impress aliens with our highly-advanced Twitter technology, the National Geographic Channel will broadcast tweets into the deepest recesses of space this coming August.
The event will also celebrate the 35th anniversary of the “Wow!” signal, an unexplained narrowband radio signal detected by SETI in 1977, which some say could be of extraterrestrial origin.
National Geographic is asking users to tweet to the #chasingufos hashtag on July 29th. Then, the channel will transmit the tweets into space using the Arecibo Radio Telescope in Puerto Rico on August 15th.
Do you think aliens will be interested in our tweets? If so, let’s hope they respond in 140 characters or less.
