Ranchers in South Dakota may love rock and roll, but they're not big Joan Jett fans.  A group of ranchers and farmers are upset that the outspoken animal rights activist and vegetarian will represent their state's float at the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.

While Joan Jett has yet to comment on the controversy, chances are she doesn't give a damn about her bad reputation.  However, in the interest of fairness, I'm proposing a compromise.  Instead of forcing Joan Jett to renounce her association with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, she should agree to serenade a rancher with the song "I Hate Myself for Loving You", while he devours a 24 oz. Ribeye on the float.

Hopefully Joan Jett won't "runaway" from the parade.  Conversely, the South Dakota Cattleman's Association shouldn't lob a proverbial "cherry bomb" at their state's float.
