Coming up this Sunday, August 20th, community first responders from Billings Police Department, Billings Fire Department, Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office, Montana Highway Patrol, Laurel Police Department, Montana State University Billings Police Department, and Motor Carrier Services will come together to treat 40 kids to a $400 shopping spree at Scheels!
The 40 kids were referred and selected for this year, from our community schools and youth programs.
A lights and sirens procession of 40 first responder vehicles from the agencies listed above will begin at Metra Park around 8:50 AM, ending at Scheels around 9:00 AM.
The procession will proceed from Metra Park onto Bench Blvd, Main Street, 1st Avenue North, Division, Montana, Laurel Road, King Avenue West, and Shiloh Road.
BPD reminds travelers to expect minor delays during this time.
Beyond the $400 shopping spree per child at Scheels, they will receive a backpack filled with school supplies, and a haircut by Billings Best Barbers, and Hair Stylists.
After the shopping and haircuts, the kids will be treated to a pizza and shaved ice party thanks to Dax's Wingz N Things and Aloha Coffee.
BPD expects the event to finish by 12 noon this Sunday, and Scheels will remain open for normal business operations during this time.
The City of Billings and the first responders encourage everyone in Billings to come out along the parade route to cheer on the kids as they travel to Scheels, to start the school year out right!
