Hanging with Montanans and a Tom Cruise Stuntman in Vegas
So I'm down in Vegas during the SHOT Show enjoying a Tatanka cigar with a great guy I served with in Afghanistan. We're hanging out at the Circle Bar right in the middle of the Venetian Casino floor. (By the way- shout out to John Woosnam with Intelligent Police Solutions!)
As our conversation wraps up, Ty Heaps with the X Overland Ranch in the Bozeman area comes over and tells me about the great crew gathered on the other side of the bar. What a crew. There's a retired FBI guy, a retired CIA guy, a bunch of Montanans, and some Hollywood stunt men. That's the kind of people you will randomly run into at the SHOT Show in Vegas.
Anyway, I get to talkin with Tom Elliott (in the photo above) and one of these days we need to get him on the radio. He played the stuntman for Tom Cruise in an incredible movie that was filmed in Montana- "Far & Away" (watch a scene from the movie below). He was also Tom Cruise's stuntman in another great movie- "Days of Thunder."
As his IMDB profile points out:
Tom Elliott has established himself as one of Hollywood's premier stunt men and stunt coordinators. Displaying his diversity and talent, Tom has worked on over 600 feature films and television shows in his 45-year career, with three Emmy nominations for stunt coordinator on "Criminal Minds," a Taurus Stunt Award nomination for best overall stunt and a S.A.G. Honor Award for "Sideways."
That's one of the things I love about going to the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, you never know who you're going to run into.
We had interesting conversations with he and another stuntman about the genius of Taylor Sheridan and filming movies and shows in Montana.
