If you were Motley Crue‘s notoriously decadent singer Vince Neil, where else would you want to celebrate your birthday but Las Vegas? Neil’s 51st birthday on Feb. 8 coincided neatly with the band’s residence at Sin City’s Hard Rock Hotel And Casino, which runs through Feb. 19, and his bandmates commemorated the occasion in style.

They led the audience in a chorus of “Happy Birthday” and presented Neil with a three-foot tall guitar-shaped cake complete with replicas of Motley Crue album covers and his beloved 1932 Ford Coupe.

Despite the festivities, Neil is unsure about his future with Motley Crue once the current dates in Vegas ends on Sunday. Last December, he told legendary gossip columnist Robin Leach of the Las Vegas Sun that a recent trip to the Bahamas on his yacht gave him time for self-reflection.

“This is all about me thinking about the second half of my life, thinking about my future, and that future might not include Motley Crue after Vegas,” Neil said. “There are so many opportunities that are in front of me that I’m really excited about. I just don’t want to look back later in life and regret that I didn’t pursue them.

“It’s been a great ride, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it,” Neil continued. “But being out here relaxing in this beautiful place has given me the chance to reflect on what direction I want the rest of my life to take. I’m really giving it a lot of thought.”

Somewhere, John Corabi is staring at his phone, waiting for it to ring.

However, if our recent talk with Crue guitarist Mick Mars is any indication, that call’s not coming anytime soon. His two-word reply to Vince’s retirement talk? “Fat chance!”
