Easy does it freaks. It's not what you think. But it got you to click the link didn't it?

I'm talking the best Rock and Roll trios in history! (I'm sorry Destiny's Child fans, they didn't make the list)

I came up with a dozen three member bands that I think make up the "cream" of the crop. I dare you to come up with a better list of talented triple threats.

12. Primus - Les Claypool is a complete freak, but his mad bass skills can't be denied.

11. The Police - Not the hardest rocking on the list, but I bet Sting pulled more tail in the 80s than any other rocker here.

10. Nirvana - Who knows how far these Seattle geeks would have gotten if Kurt Cobain hadn't mistaken a shotgun for a cocaine straw?

09. Motorhead - Lemmy. What can you say? The ugliest man on the planet and when he sings it sounds like a gravel truck running over a milk cow. But somehow combining those 2 things equals rock awesomeness!

08. Mountain - This band came to the list as a recommendation from Sam Talkington. If he says they are a trio then who am I to argue?

07. ZZ Top - Fear the beard! Except the drummer who's name is beard? This southern rockin' power trio made fuzzy spinning guitars a thing!

06. Cream - A trio you can't leave off of a lot of rock n roll lists. Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton... SAY NO MORE!

05. ELP - Bringing keyboards to the forefront of the rock stage, Keith Emerson was the first to make a sequin covered Moog sexy.

04. King's X - The pride of Katy Texas. These three didn't ever really make it big but they put the power in power trio. One of my favorite bands that no one has heard.

03. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - On most people's list, Jimi and the boys would probably be a slot higher. But I have some strange fascination with Canadians with high pitched voices?

02. Triumph - Number 2 on the list and another band with not that much success relative to the amount of talent sizzling like lightning from Rik Emmet's fingertips.

01. Rush - Ah Rush. Argue if you like, but these Canadian rock gods will always be at the top of my list of trios, rock bands, progressive rock bands, polka bands and any other list I can think of. For my money THE best drummer and THE best bassist in rock history. Alex? Hmmmmmm, while an amazing guitarist it's difficult to put him in the top 10.

Well There you have it. A dozen trios that have made the loudest noise without a stage full of musicians and egos.

Time to tell me in what order you would put these terrific triple threats. Add your own favorite. I always love to see what other music lovers listen to!
