Ah, junk food. Salty, sweet, carb loaded junk food. Tuesday (7/21) is National Junk Food Day and a perfect excuse to indulge in you favorite not-healthy snack or food. Organizers say you can observe this delicious day of snacking by doing this:

Snack a little. Chow down on your favorite chip, dip or treat. In fact, treat the family or workplace to a beverage or take out.

I don't know about the whole "treat your workplace" part, unless the boss is buying, but hey... I don't need an excuse or a "national day" to chow down on some junk food. Hook me up with some donuts, Corn Nuts or a big bag of salt and vinegar potato chips. I'm more of a salty snack kind of guy, but many people seem to prefer sweets when it comes to garbage food.

The folks at Zippia.com ran some Google Trend's data to discover what the favorite work-place snack item is for each state around the nation. Take a look at this info-graph.

Apparently, the favorite snack for someone at work in Montana is Rice Krispy treats. Huh? I don't think I've ever eaten a Rice Krispy treat at work. Although, I admit those little pre-packaged ones are pretty good and I feel like I've had more than my fair share at kids soccer games and birthday parties.

You'll notice on the map that North Dakotan's like to power down on sunflower seeds at work, as does Wyoming. North Dakota is one of the largest sunflower seed producers in the nation so that kind of makes sense (they're actually second according to Statista, South Dakota produces the most). Coloradan's No. 1 snack is "cosmic brownies." I'm not sure workers should be snacking on cosmic brownies while on the clock, but I digress.

Enjoy National Junk Food Day (responsibly) and see the full results of the favorite snacks for workers' HERE.
