Q2 reports that a consultant has concluded Billings should build three new youth and amateur sports facilities which would add millions to the local economy.

Victus Advisors Group has received nearly 850 responses from parents, participants, and coaches through a months-long study on the sports landscape in the Magic City. Victus released its report Monday.

The consultants recommended upgrading both Stewart and Amend parks and building an indoor, multi-court sports center. The Victus report said Billings needs a two-sheet ice arena, after a feasibility study said Centennial Ice Area is outdated. Billings could also build a competitive swim center, to be sustained by public revenue.

Victus estimated the potential impact to Yellowstone County could reach $622 million over a 30-year period. It would create hundreds of sustainable annual jobs and nearly $14 million in state and local hotel surcharge revenues.
