Before the school year kicks in, one Billings neighborhood is throwing a full-on carnival for families — and it's not costing anyone a dime.

In the wake of a tragic incident outside the Butte Civic Center, families are reminded of the fragile balance between fun and safety at our local events.

The daytime event is family friendly... but the kids gotta stay home past 7 PM.

MontanaFair has drastically scaled back events this year due to COVID-19. However, the fair has been extended to seventeen days instead of 10. It kicked off today (7/24) and runs through August 15th at MetraPark. They are offering various ticket packages at substantial savings.

MontanaFair is moving forward with this years show. Without rodeo, concerts or supercross. Will you still be able to get a Viking on a stick? Probably.

I've loved carnivals since back when I thought being a carnie was probably the greatest job in the world. These days, even though I question the safety of the rides and the life choices of some of the employees, I still get a nostalgic feeling wandering around and will probably ride a few things with the kid.

So the kids are on summer break.  I'm lucky in that 3 of my 4 kids are in college,(let me re-think the lucky part on that $$).  But, in general kids are off for the summer and lets face it most parents are working.  So, what are the kids up to at home...
