This new fire was reported on Saturday, July 16th, 2022 and has been named the Moors Mountain Fire.

It's been a bad summer for wildfires in Montana, and firefighters need all the help they can get.

The 'Robertson Draw' fire that started Sunday, June 13th is located approximately 7 miles south of Red Lodge. As of Wednesday, July 7th the fire is 65-69% contained at nearly 30,000 acres.

State officials noted that in 2020 a record 4,500 Montanans were victims of elder abuse, an increase of nearly 30% since 2018.

Here are some facts about the Robertson Draw Fire south of Red Lodge as of Friday, June 18.

A Montana DNRC helicopter went down near Townsend, but all crew members are reportedly safe thanks to the quick actions of law enforcement and a DNRC employee.

The fire was first reported on Wednesday afternoon.

After initial estimates had up to 10,000 acres being involved in the Mountain View Fire, reports now say around 2800 acres are being dealt with near Molt.

A large wildfire is burning near Molt and can be seen for many miles. Residents were concerned for the safety of their homes after seeing the large column of smoke coming from the far west end of Billings

The firefighters are coming from Missoula, Butte, Livingston and several smaller towns.
