Cruisin’ for Compliments

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen sounds practically hysterical about Tom Cruise’s performance in the Rock of Ages’ movie adaptation. In the film, which also features the music of Leppard, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Styx, Pat Benatar and other ’80s staples, Cruise plays Stacee Jaxx, an aging rocker looking to recapture his glory days. Collen told VH1 Classic Rock Nights: “I was so impressed because he hadn’t sung before and he had vocal lessons… And we saw him and he was amazing; it was like Iggy Pop meets someone else and he’s in great shape and it was like, ‘What!?’ It was surreal, but he really pulls it off and it was like he’s a total rock star.” For more.
