Hickel was sentenced to 70 months in prison, which will be followed by 4 years of supervised release.
According to the court documents:
- The United States Government alleged that in September 2021, a drug task force in Billings was investigating Hickel for drug trafficking.
- Hickel had absconded from state supervision on a distribution charge.
- Law enforcement got information that Hickel was staying in a motel in Forsyth, Montana.
- After obtaining a search warrant, officers found Hickel in his room with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
This after another sentencing just last week for a transient man trafficking methamphetamine in the Billings area. Read about that below.
Just another crime-related event added to the ever-growing list in Billings.
Information on Project Safe Neighborhoods
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.
