Billings Surplus Vehicle Auction June 19th

There seems to be two types of people when it comes to buying a used cop car. Those who think they are getting a great deal on a well maintained government vehicle that came from the factory with a few heavy duty options...  and those who would not be caught dead driving an old police cruiser.

Fans of the Ford Police Interceptor Crown Vic will tell you how awesome they are with it's big V8 and heavy duty suspension and a beefier-than-stock alternator.  I suppose if the price was right I might consider driving one. When police departments are done with them, they are stripped on nearly every awesome police toy and gadgets (like the siren, light bar, inmate cage, shotgun holder, etc). The one thing they always leave installed is the spotlight, apparently because filling the hole left by removing it is not practical.

The City of Billings is selling a number of it's retired vehicles on June 19th at an auction in Billings. Some highlights include:

• 2011 Ford Police Interceptor with 125,900 miles
• Two 2007 Chevy Malibu "detective" cars, both with under 100k miles
• A 2005 Ford Taurus and a 2006 Ford Taurus, both with just under 100k miles
• 1994 Chevy Cavalier with just 65,000 miles
• 1998 Chevy 2500 flatbed 4x4 with 69,000 miles

Now, how about some of the oddities from the City that are headed up for auction? Like a GARBAGE TRUCK and a road line painter machine!
